B83 3rd Floor Lab renovations

This Design Build contract provided for the renovation of the first floor of a circa 1950’s laboratory building into state-of-the-art offices and labs located at the National Energy Technology Laboratory, Pittsburgh, PA.

The work initiated the $5.8 million renovation for new main entrance area, a visitor’s center, conference meeting spaces, a kitchenette, restrooms, locker rooms, storage space, office space, video conference spaces, work/copier room and 1000 sq. ft. to provide mechanical space in the high bay. FSS planned the renovations in two phases over 30 months and was completed October 2013.

Building 26

Lab Renovations and Historic Restoration B26

FSS completed the $4.1 million renovation and modernization of this Historic Laboratory project at the National Energy Technology Laboratory, Albany, OR. This project included interior and exterior renovation of an existing two-story 7,200 S.F. laboratory building complete with new mechanical and electrical systems installed outside at a new pad and mezzanine area.

A new curtain wall system was installed that wrapped the entire building, designed to resemble the original building construction to meet historic standards. Finished in January 2013, this project was completed 58 days ahead of the contract period of performance.

6A/7A Grossing Lab

FSS provided General Construction Services for this multi-phased project that included the 3rd floor of UPMC’s Hill Building on Fifth Avenue and 6A Gross Room Lab and 7A Office Suite Expansion located on the 6th and 7th floors of Presbyterian University Hospital A wing.

The Hill Building renovation relocated a Research Administration for a doctor and his team. New space included administrative offices, conference room and kitchenette.

8th Floor A-Stem Lab

Located at in Presbyterian University Hospital, Scaife Hall, A-Stem, FSS provided construction services including the complete demolition of the two laboratories for use as biomedical research labs and office space.

Specialty mechanical, electrical and plumbing trade work consisting of fume hoods, medical gases and specialty laboratory equipment were installed.

ICRA level 3 was provided throughout construction. Heavy coordination for supply and exhaust ductwork and various identified piping systems were implemented to provide the highest possible ceiling heights.  Custom laboratory casework, epoxy resin countertops, and vinyl composition tile were installed.
